Running of the Bulls 8K

JOIN US FOR THE 12TH RUNNING OF DURHAM’S PREMIERE COMMUNITY ROAD RACE!
This 8km (4.97 miles) scenic course will start near Durham’s Central Park and Farmers Market, and will wind through downtown Durham, American Tobacco Campus, Trinity Park and Old North Durham neighborhoods, and finish with a lap of the warning track in the Old Durham Athletic Park. The course is certified and sanctioned by USA Track & Field.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT COVID-19: 
We are monitoring the COVID-19 situation carefully and working with local officials to ensure a safe environment for all participants. If any further changes need to be made, we will detail them here. We created a virtual race option for anyone who cannot participate in the rescheduled date OR for anyone who prefers the run virtually. All virtual participants will receive a race shirt, finishers medal, and a link to submit race results. We are not able to offer refunds. If you have already registered and would like to transfer to the virtual division, please submit this request via the contact form at the bottom of this page.

RACE FEATURES

Kids Fun Run:
 chip-timed lap around the warning track inside the Durham Athletic Park for kids 0-6 (8:45am) and 6-12 (8:55am).
Cash prizes for top 3 male and female overall and top masters male & female finishers, please cash prizes for the fastest male & female Durham residents!
Custom cowbell medals for all finishers!
Post-Race Party at the historic Durham Athletic Park:

After you finish your lap of the warning track, join us for food, refreshments, music, local vendors, and cheer on other finishers as they enter the stadium.

Schedule of Events
Friday, August 28:
12:00-6:00pm: Packet Pickup at Bull City Running Co.

Saturday, August 29:
5:45-7:00am: Packet Pickup at Race Start
7:10am: Announcements & National Anthem
7:15am: RACE START!
7:40am: First finishers expected at Durham Athletic Park

Packet Pick-up
Friday, August 28 from 12:00-6:00pm at Bull City Running Co.
Saturday, August 29 from 5:45-7:00am at the Race Start (corner of Foster St. and W. Seminary Ave.)

Aid Stations
There will be 2 aid stations on the course; the first is just after the 2-mile mark and the second is just before the 4-mile mark. Water and Nuun will be available at both aid stations.

Facilities
Restrooms will be available at the start area and inside the Durham Athletic Park. Restrooms in the YMCA and Farmer’s Market are restricted. There will be no facilities on the course.

Spectators
Spectators are welcome at the start area, anywhere along the course, and inside the stadium at the finish. Make some noise!

Expect traffic interruptions in Downtown Durham between 7:15am to 8:15am on race day.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience. We estimate the following roads will experience traffic delays:
Seminary Ave. and Foster St. from Morgan St. to Hunt St.: 5:00am to 7:15am
Main St. to Buchanan Blvd.: 7:15am to 7:35am
Buchanan Blvd. to Knox St./Watt St.: 7:20am to 7:40am
Watt St. to Trinity Ave.: 7:25am to 7:50am
Trinity Ave. to Washington St.: 7:25am to 8:00am
Washington St./Morris St. to Chapel Hill St. (downtown): 7:30am to 8:10am

Rules
Jogging strollers are permitted on the course, however we ask that you be considerate of other runners and position yourself near the back of the starting area. No dogs and no headphones, please. Walkers are welcome, however city race permits only allow use of city streets until 8:30am (1hr and 15mins), so they will only be monitored by police until then. If you anticipate taking longer than this to walk 8km, please use the sidewalk.

Coveted cowbell medal will be presented to all finishers,

Cash Prizes for Top Finishers
Prize purse for Top 3 Males and Females overall, and Top Masters Male & Female overall. Plus, cash awards for fastest Male & Female Bull City resident (must be a resident of Durham, NC). Cash awards will be mailed to winners after results are official.

Post-Race Party
