Variety is the Spice of Life: Safe Running Progressions, Workout Variations, and Cross Training
Presented by Sam Hegedus, PT, DPT, OCS, USAT Level 1 Coach
 
Join us for a fun and interactive clinic where Coach Sam will address the following topics:
  • Review of safe running progression rules (10% rule, long run being <50% of weekly mileage, etc)
  • Types of running workouts to MIX IT UP: easy runs (actual easy running…HR zone 2), strides, hill repeats, long runs, interval workouts on the track, tempo runs (yo-yo, progression, etc), fartlek.
  • Cross training: cycling, swimming, elliptical, etc
  • Importance of rest/recovery days (mobility, yoga, walking, etc)
  • Strength training: 1:4 ratio of strength training to running minimum for injury prevention!
